Conte A Paris Graphite Pencil Set of 12
In 1794, Nicolas Jacques Conté perfected the modern graphite pencil, made from a mixture of clay and graphite, which finally made it possible to graduate the hardness of the lead.
Today, the Crayon Graphite is still made in France to the same high standards. It is made from a balanced blend of clay and graphite. The graphite lead is a slightly silvery grey colour, and is particularly silky because it is impregnated with a wax. It does not scratch the paper and glides smoothly over the surface.
The Crayon Graphite is recommended for meticulous, precise work, whether you’re building a sophisticated perspective, a cartoon character or an impeccably constructed nude.
Graduations range from H (Hard) for hardness to B (Bold) for softness. The higher the number, the harder or softer the pencil.
This metal box contains the full range of graphite pencils, from 3H to 6B:
3H, 2H, H, HB, B, 2B, 3B, 4B, 5B, 6B.
The modern graphite lead, made from a mixture of clay and graphite, finally makes it possible to graduate the hardness of the lead, i.e. H for a hard lead and B for a soft lead, enabling both novice and experienced artists to draw with precision and contrast.
This boxed set includes the full range of Graphite Pencils for all shades of grey.
The pencils can be sharpened with a knife or cutter.
